Zagreb souvenirs and treats

The offer of Zagreb shops includes products made of crystal, ceramics, and porcelain, wicker or straw baskets, and top Croatian wines and gastronomic products. Famous Croatian souvenirs are ties (cravats), a fashion accessory named after Croats who wore characteristic scarves around their necks during the Thirty Years' War in the 17th century, and a ballpoint pen, a tool invented by a Zagreb inventor Slavoljub Eduard Penkala. Among the gastronomic souvenirs, the most famous are paprenjak, a traditional biscuit whose history dates back to the Renaissance, olive oil, cheeses, and wines.
